Privacy Policy
Canter is a mobile application operated by Golden Gate Equestrian ("GGE," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information Canter collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Canter is provided to riders, parents, owners, grooms, and staff of participating barns to manage horse care and attend horse shows.
Information we collect
- Account & profile: your email address (used to sign in via a one-time magic link), and a display name, phone number, and role if provided.
- Barn & equestrian data: horses, riders, stalls, care tasks and feeding/medication schedules, show entries, and related records your barn maintains.
- Competition data: USEF membership/registration numbers and division information, used to check show eligibility and points where you enable that feature.
- Device & usage: a push-notification token (if you enable notifications) and basic diagnostic information provided by Apple.
Canter is free to use. We do not collect payment card information, we do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To provide the app: authenticate you, show your barn's horses, care tasks, and shows.
- To run eligibility/points checks you request.
- To send you notifications you have opted into.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
How information is shared
Your data is visible to authorized members of your barn according to their role. We use service providers to run Canter, including Supabase (secure database and authentication) and Apple (push notifications and App Store distribution). We share data with them only to provide the service, and we may disclose information if required by law.
Children's & minors' privacy
Canter is a general-audience app and is not in the App Store Kids Category. Many riders are minors. Accounts for riders under 18 — including teen riders aged 13–17 — are intended to be created and managed by a parent, guardian, or the barn, who accepts our Terms on the minor's behalf. For children under 13, we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from the child without verifiable parental consent; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information without such consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
We retain your personal data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we act immediately: we revoke your sign-in, anonymize your profile (name, email, phone), and remove your devices and notification history — and in any case complete deletion of your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or legitimate business need (for example, transaction and audit records, which are anonymized). Note that records belonging to your barn (for example, a horse's care or show history) may be retained by the barn as its own records even after you leave.
Your choices & account deletion
- Delete your account: you can delete your account and personal data at any time from within the Canter app (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us at info@ggeqs.com. This removes your personal data; barn-owned records may persist as barn property (see Data retention). If you are the only administrator of a barn, you'll be asked to assign another administrator first.
- Turn notifications on or off in your device settings.
- Request access to or a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
- Ask your barn administrator to remove you from a barn.
